Open-source licences

Gloodoh is built on the work of a great many people who gave that work away. This page names the open-source software in the Gloodoh apps and consoles, and the licence each is published under.

Last updated 3 October 2026 Applies to Gloodoh Supplier, Gloodoh Consumer, Gloodoh Uploader and the web consoles

How to read this page

Each entry names a component, the people or organisation behind it, and the licence under which they publish it. Versions move as the apps are updated, so this page lists the component rather than pinning a version number that would be stale within a month.

Apache 2.0 and MIT are permissive licences: we may use the software in a commercial product provided we preserve copyright notices and, for Apache 2.0, note significant changes. This page is that notice.

We will send you the full licence text of any component listed here on request — write to legal@gloodoh.com. If you believe something on this page is wrong or missing, tell us and we will correct it.

Map data

The map a supplier uses to pin a shop is drawn from OpenStreetMap. The map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is available under the Open Database License; the map pictures are served by the OpenStreetMap Foundation under its tile usage policy. The map in the app carries the same credit. See openstreetmap.org/copyright.

Components that are not open source

Two things in the apps are used under proprietary terms rather than an open-source licence. They are listed here for completeness, because leaving them out would make the list above look more complete than it is.

What the advertising SDK collects and why it is present is set out in the Privacy Policy.

The desktop build, and the GPL

Gloodoh Supplier can also be built for desktop computers. That build — and only that build — includes vlcj, a Java binding for VLC by Caprica Software, published under the GNU General Public License version 3.

Worth knowing

The GPL asks more of us than a permissive licence does. The desktop build is not currently distributed to the public — the Android apps and the web consoles do not contain vlcj — and if and when we do distribute it, we will meet the GPL's terms, including making the corresponding source available. Ask at legal@gloodoh.com and we will tell you where it stands.

Typefaces

The Gloodoh wordmark and every heading you read on this site are set in Montserrat, designed by Julieta Ulanovsky with Sol Matas, Juan Pablo del Peral and Jacques Le Bailly, published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The numerals in the countdown use a separate display face licensed for use in Gloodoh's own products.

Trademarks

Google Play and Android are trademarks of Google LLC. Apple and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. M-PESA is a trademark of Vodafone Group. SasaPay is a trademark of Viewtech Limited. Their appearance here describes where Gloodoh runs or which services it works with, and implies no endorsement by any of them.
